If you knew you only had 30 days to live, would you buy life insurance if you were given the chance? If you answered “yes” then you are with the 62% of adult Americans who answered the same to this scenario. This is in stark contrast to the 2% who say that they plan to buy life insurance in the next 30 days. The nonprofit LIFE foundation has taken action to encourage more Americans to protect their loved ones with life insurance. For their “Insure Your Love” campaign, LIFE has hired the help of a very unlikely couple: fruit flies Frank and Fran. Fruit flies have a very short life span of 30 days which is why they fit the campaign so perfectly. These “spokespeople” deliver serious messages in the form of three lessons through humorous videos. The lessons, “Life is short”, “Don’t procrastinate”, and “Don’t gamble with your family’s future”, are meant to challenge common excuses that people make for not buying life insurance.
